Why Roberta Metsola Inspires Me as a Political Mentor

Roberta Metsola EU Parliament president (20242029)

I have recently started writing about EU politics, and I draw a lot of inspiration from Roberta Metsola. I was deeply impressed by her speeches in the European Parliament—especially one she gave while I was studying business in Bulgaria. In that speech, she firmly stated that there is no reason why Bulgaria should not be part of the Schengen Area. That moment truly resonated with me and made me a fan of her political vision.

What I admire most about Roberta Metsola is her ability to speak with clarity and logic. She always builds a strong foundation for her arguments before highlighting the key points. I believe this thoughtful and structured approach makes her one of the most compelling voices in European politics.

And recently, when the Madam President spoke about the US-EU relationship, it opened the door for stronger trade ties between the two. This will help reduce unemployment. Before this, no one had made such a strong effort to bring the US and EU closer together.

Roberta Metsola broke a deeply rooted misconception — that building relationships with other countries, inviting their leaders, or visiting them is somehow a loss of dignity. Instead, she showed that such diplomacy strengthens Europe’s political and economic position. Before this, many Europeans believed that engaging too closely with foreign governments might damage their own nation’s pride. I’ve personally heard many Europeans express this view, but Metsola proved otherwise.

One more thing that truly inspires me about Madam President is her impeccable sense of style. Her dressing is always so elegant and high-profile — it perfectly reflects the dignity of her position. Honestly, it makes me dream of one day joining the European Parliament as her assistant, just to work closely with her.

She conducts meetings and presentations in such a professional and graceful manner that even foreign political figures are genuinely impressed by her presence and the way she welcomes them. Her confidence, presentation, and style are all part of what makes her such a powerful and inspiring leader.

When I graduated from Pakistan and went to study business at Varna University of Management in Bulgaria, I came across Roberta Metsola’s profile on Instagram and started following her. As I followed her journey, I began to understand and learn more about EU politics. Gradually, I started participating in small political events and eventually took part in political activities across Portugal, Spain, and Italy.

All of this began because of the inspiration I received from Madam President. Watching her work, her speeches, and her dedication motivated me to become an activist. Even though I currently have only 106 followers, I actively try to contribute by writing EU-focused articles.

I owe this journey to Roberta Metsola. She is not just a political figure to me — she is my mentor and a source of continuous inspiration. As I continue my life in Europe, she will always remain someone I deeply admire and look up to.
